DA www.wikipedia.org to know some history of our region which we will visit later in more detail ...

Tuscany is one of the largest and most important regions for Italian history, art, economics, culture and landscapes.

Due to its history and its strong cultural and linguistic unit, is also one of the Italian regions with the oldest and defined identity. The name is ancient and derives from Greek and Latin dall'etnonimo used to define the land inhabited by the Etruscans, "Etruria", then evolved into "Tuscia" and then "Tuscany". Even today the borders of Tuscany are very good to those ancient Etruria, which included parts of present regions of Lazio and Umbria, to the Tiber. Post

in central Italy, bordered to the north-west with Liguria to the north with the Emilia-Romagna, on the east by the Marches and Umbria, Lazio to the south. To the west, its 397 km of continental coasts are wet the Ligurian Sea in central and northern stretch of Carrara (Parmignola mouth of the river, the border with Liguria) and the Gulf of Baratti and the Tyrrhenian Sea washes the other hand the southern coast of the promontory of Piombino and the mouth of Chiarone, which marks the border with Lazio.

The regional capital is Florence, largest and most populous city (368,901 inhabitants), and main fulcrum historical, artistic, economic and administrative, the other provincial capitals are: Arezzo, Grosseto, Livorno, Lucca, Massa, Pisa, Pistoia , Prato and Siena.

Tuscany also administers the islands of the Tuscan Archipelago, in addition to a small exclave located within the boundaries of the Emilia-Romagna, in which are located some fraction of the town of Badia Tedalda.

Up to 1861 has been an independent state created by the Republic of Florence. Since then he has been part of the Kingdom of Sardinia, the Kingdom of Italy and today the Italian Republic.

During the Grand Duchy was also a hymn composed by the Florentine and Aegisthus Mosell entitled Leopolda.

The regional party, founded in 2001, marks the 30th November, in remembrance of that day in 1786 when it was abolished the death penalty in the Grand Duchy of Tuscany.
